After the Revolution, Who Will Clean Up The Mess
Photos from Ellie Harrison's Scottish Independence referendum "party" at Talbot Rice in 2014
Ten years ago, on the day of the Scottish Independence vote, I spent the night in Talbot Rice Gallery for a referendum party.
had hired some confetti cannons that would be fired in the event of a Yes vote. The piece was called After the Revolution, Who Will Clean Up The Mess. Alas, we never got to find out what the confetti looked like because Scotland voted “No”. Here are some photos I took that evening.A decade on and the independence dream is over. It’s easy to forget how close it seemed at the time and how energised people were by the possibility of change.
Very interesting, Neil, thank you. Many years ago, in a different world, the "Europe of the Regions," I knew lots of people who were sort of Scots Nationalists, although "national" was heavily qualified by "Europe," and so it was more of a London/Brussels trade . . . like I said, it seems long ago.
