Because I live in town, walking around the neighbourhood makes me think that everyone is a hedonist, out to enjoy themselves. I have to remind myself that most people have duties and go to work.

Trackie McLeod’s background is as a graphic designer. He hasn’t been demoralised by four years studying art and as such his show is pretty shallow and fun. The references are obvious, the politics are basic, but folk seem to enjoy it. When I mentioned it to a friend he said “it’s very nineties - where is the anthropocene?”
McLeod felt like the diametric opposite to Arika which launched on Wednesday. Arika is heavy with guilt about colonialism and the carceral state. The rage against Zionism and fascism has exhausted them, but they are still set on totally refashioning the western sense of self.
6. On Monday I saw Pamela Hieronymi talk about the problem of free will with rigorous philosophical logic. She was adviser on The Good Place and spoke exactly like Chidi. There were four lectures but having only seen one I don’t know what the solution was.
